How to Fix Scratches on Car
When you notice a scratch on your vehicle, but you don’t feel it’s worth visiting our service center to have a mechanic buff it out, there are a few do-it-yourself scratch removal tips:
- Sandpaper – Shallow scratches only on the vehicle’s surface can easily be removed after cleaning the area and rubbing over it with 2000-grit wet sandpaper. Once the scratch is barely visible, go ahead and apply a rubbing compound.
- Candle wax – This is not a permanent solution. Gently rub the wax over the cleaned area to seal the scratch.
- Super glue – Like candle wax, this is only a temporary solution. Super glue blends with the vehicle, slightly masking the damage.
How to Fix Dent in Car
A dent doesn’t have to ruin your car’s curb appeal. Give one of these easy at-home dent fixes a try before bringing your vehicle to our service team:
- Plunger – Using either your bathroom plunger or a car dent plunger, this tool is excellent at popping out and leveling the dent out.
- Hammer or Mallet – Using one of these on the opposite side of the dent will help knock the spot back into place. The hammer is better for smaller fixes and the mallet for larger dents. Protect the side you are hammering with a towel to avoid additional damage.
- Dent puller – Only use this tool if you have used this method before as it requires drilling a hole in the dent, lacing the wire through, and pulling the dent back to surface level. You’ll then need to fill the hole, sand it down, and paint.
